It has been fourteen years since I first saw this one, so I thought I'd revisit it. As you all know, I love coming of age films and comedies, so this one is fun for me. It's definitely achieved cult status and has so many memorable scenes and characters. I've also decided to do a mini-marathon of Richard Linklater films, now, since I enjoy his experimental style and range. But Dazed and Confused is worth another viewing in the future, for sure. It's not at the same level as American Graffiti (my favorite high school day-in-life film) but it's still a classic.

I've always loved Queen and, in my opinion, Freddie Mercury was the greatest pop/rock vocalist of the century. This film was great--it sucked me in and kept me engaged the whole time--just like Freddie used to do when he performed. Despite the changes in the history and facts, the film is beautiful and gets to the heart of why performers do what they do and how complex their lives often are. And Rami Malek?? Wow. Just wow.

It had been over ten years since I watched this beautiful adaptation of Little Dorrit. No one can talk about (and show) the stupidity of "society" and class like Dickens. It is infuriating to think that class prejudices still exist today--over 150 years after Dickens wrote about it. Humans are very strange. Also, Claire Foy does an amazing job here in one of her first major acting roles.
