Biopic, Maud Lewis, Complex Relationships, Art

Wow. What an amazing film! I first learned about Maud Lewis when I went to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in 2013 and saw her house and artwork on display. She is a true treasure and her story is even more heartwarming. I love films that show the story, and Aisling Walsh definitely does that. I was truly surprised that this film flew under the radar--both Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke should have been nominated for more awards for their performances. Fantastic acting.

Animation, Comedy, Middle Ages, Fantasy, Coming of Age, Adventure

This is a fun show that brings fantasy and the comedy world of Matt Groening together. While I still think Futurama is the best of all his shows, Disenchantment is a great new adventure. The show has longer episodes, a continuous narrative, and is more dramatic than comedic--but it's still hilarious. I liked the symbolism, the pre-science jokes, the magic, and the literary aspects. But the best part, in my opinion, is the voice acting: Matt Berry, Rich Fulcher, and Noel Fielding are added to the already amazing ensemble cast?! Excellent.
