Happy 2025!

Happy 2025! I watched a lot more fantasy, adventure, and some excellent new shows and seasons again this year. Started revisiting Hitchcock, Coen Brothers, and favorites. My favorite film I saw this year was Furiosa. Favorite show was Shogun.

Other highlights were Bad Batch season 3 and starting to watch Skeleton Crew. Also A Complete Unknown as a pleasant surprise this last week.

My goal for 2025 is to continue watching old favorites, forgotten classics, and dig into more Dickens adaptations. There is just so much to watch!

Best wishes!

It has been quite a while since I've watched a series that is this intense--intense in story, acting, and visuals. Peaky Blinders was also intensebut in a different way with a different feel. At times Shogun is quietly intense, so much so that you feel you might explode from the tension. Other times it is roaring. The story of Shogun is one of discovery, cultures in contrast, strategy and intrigue, politics and war, customs and rituals, and especially honor and loyalty. But it is just as much (if not more so) a crushingly cruel, beautiful tale of love and loss, of identity and purpose. This is a grand tale of the human experience. What cinematography, costumes, and design! What moments! I was instantly sucked into the mesmerizing world of Japan in 1600 and I just want more. Stunning is not a strong enough word. Go watch this as soon as you can.
